Hi Francesc,

I totally agree with your concerns, and if I can't dispel them with
the following comments, I'll happily remove PyTables from LaunchPad.
Don't worry...won't hurt my feelings :')

First, let me say that I would like to dedicate myself to Pytables
because my work is totally data centric and Pytables/Numpy is/will be
at the foundation of it. I've greatly respected this project and have
wanted to contribute since way back.

I'm a full-time, at home, programmer, and my only work is my project.
My thoughts are that.. what I need to develop for my project, could be
enhancements to, and auxiliary compliments of, Pytables core. Believe
me, I respect your time and will always effort to avoid consuming it,
and contribute to pytables an autonomous way with respect to your
leadership. Lastly, just so you know me a little better, I have been
self-employed all my working life, sticking to commitments I make is
quite important to me.

As for LaunchPad let me say this, and then I'll remove the
registration on your say so.

Besides being a vehicle to promote community contribution to a
project, the purpose of the launchpad framework is also to tie in the
communication from the end-users, distro package managers, and to the
upstream developers, Distro package managers can also create a long
term branch of the project for specific distro configurations. Bugs
have the ability to be cross-referenced along the project's entire
stream.

The functionality of the site is still in progress. From what I see,
seamless cooperative features are continually being enhanced. There is
a link to the Pytables home page in the middle of the page. It isn't
blaringly noticeable and should be improved (I made a request). For
now, what I did was edit the project description to display links for
the Home Page; How To Use; Bug Reports; the Mailing List; and the
Source Forge page.

Currently, the bug reporting system is disabled for pytables. I
believe that it can be enabled to *integrate* with Trac at the
pytables home site. Also, when a question is asked, emails can be
configured to go to a "support contact" (Which can be me, who will
filter them) or a notice (with a link) can even go directly to the
pytables mail list. See the following links for more:

As I mentioned, I want to help with pytables. And I think launchpad
will be a great enhancement for all of the oss community, which I
strongly support. If, at any time, something isn't working out, the
project registration there can be removed (you, Ivan, et al, can also
be registered as pytables project team developers for full
administrative privileges). But, I also know that in a little while,
I'll have earned your trust as a pytables contributor.

Well, obviously nothing is integrated in pytables main development
without acceptance from you all. Once I'm completely familiar with the
code base, which will be soon, I'll happily pre-filter any proposed
patches. Also, any branches, thanks to bazaar, are completely
independent and down stream.

Lastly let me say, I think this is a nice framework and has even
greater potential. Also, I know that you may also be concerned by, the
possibility of, over enthusiasm on my part that will vanish in short
time without notice. Well, I'll have to prove that that won't be the
case.

Ok, tell my what you think. If it's a no go.. no problem, I'll have it removed.
