Which effectively happens anyway, although to varying degrees of activity.  If
an OS vendor releases a version of Python in their LTS, that's also a
commitment to support that for the length of LTS (Python usually being within
in the sphere of LTS supported packages, e.g. not everything in Ubuntu is
guaranteed support for 5 years of an LTS, just 'main' packages).
