Indeed it did - thanks for the tip.

I used pip to uninstall jinja2. Afterwards, running 'ipython notebook' 
predictably failed.

Then I ran the above command to upgrade ipython notebook. It figured out 
that jinja2 was missing and re-installed it. Now it works again.

Very smooth.
