Normally, quite some time. Every piece of Python software needs to still work on the new Python. Now, testing is frozen, which means package maintainers will tend to upload new versions of packages to unstable sparingly to avoid hassle with package transitions from unstable to testing being blocked, and instead upload to experimental. I would say you’re unlikely to see Python 2.7 in unstable until after the stable release. > Anyone any experience of running debian experimental? Experimental isn’t a full suite, so you don’t run it as such, but rather run unstable (or testing) with one or two packages from experimental using either of the methods already suggested.
