Are you looking for books generally on python or more specifically on
django?

I'm not aware of any recent book on django, most are 3 years old and are
focused on outdated versions of django. I've heard this put down to the
documentation being so good that there just isn't the need for a book.
Whilst I do find the docs very good I'm not sure I buy this.
http://djangobook.com/ is putting together an updated book but I've not
heard much about it. My advice would be to use the docs, and the tutorial,
and then ask any questions you have here, the django mailing list or the
django irc channel.

For more general python related guidance I'm again unsure whether I would
buy a book. There are some very good online resources. I mostly learnt
python from the docs and http://diveintopython.net/ Others I would at
least consider today would be http://learnpythonthehardway.org/
http://inventwithpython.com/ and perhaps
http://www.greenteapress.com/thinkpython/index.html

I still need to check out http://docs.python-guide.org/en/latest/index.html

Anyway good luck with python, django and the website.
