yes, you ned the exact same version.  sometimes even down to the build  
number.  and it needs to be the same bitness.

here's what's available: http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.1/

not sure if the amd64 will work for you.  your best bet is probably to  
try to setup idle to use mayapy.
