i believe there was a previous thread on this list about setting up idle to work with maya.cmds and pymel, though i'm not sure what the outcome was. i recommended that they try out eclipse instead, and to use the instructions in the pymel docs to set it up and i think that largely ended the idle talk. (no pun intended).
