Hi, >> Uhmmm... did you realize there is a "pace" field in "Advanced" tab? > > yes I saw that (to be honest very late), but as you said, for the user > all all this is more than confusing ;) > > - pace should sit close to speed, it's an equivalent
I agree, but to be honest, this won't change before releasing 1.9.0... 0:) > - actually both speed & pace get calculated automatically within the > daily tab (which often coincides with record iff one activity per day) > but, as said, not so within the record view. I have experienced some strange behavior with record view: I don't have any specific clickpath, but I got the impression some times it get stuck. > - you can supply e.g. duration & speed to obtain a distance, but not so > with pace (input locked). But in certain cases this might be useful. This makes sense. We should move into a logic where values get calculated on the fly depending of data introduced instead of waiting for user clicking "calculate" buttons. > - calculation/display of pace within 'advanced' needs some correction as > it exposes some pathological behaviour. > Example: pace derived from 10k with 59 min 59 secs is calculated as > 5:60. Not really wrong ;) but needs to be displayed as 6:00 of course. Ooops! I have just added this comment to ticket #71 (sorry, I wasn't aware of it!) >> In my opinion both "calculate" actions should be linked. > > yup. One is reciprocal to the other. They are not independent. This matches with "smarter" approach described above. >> and also I don't understand why >> pace field is grayed out. I guess these settings may come from other >> scenarios, not really sure... > > Looked it up: maybe rev 732 ? > https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/pytrainer/changeset/732 > thought as a temporary fix to tickets #71 and #72 (mine, haha ;) > and to some extent also #81 This points directly to #72. Actually file import should be removed from "new entry" dialog as it should be done via "unified import" (File -> Import). This didn't happen yet because unified import (tickets #3, #8, #41) misses some functionality.
