That's the venerable *NIX approach. Of course nothing wrong with that, but it is a fact that for most users nowadays the most appreciated approach is the "one tool for everything". So in short I would like to see QGIS to include as much cartographic functionality as possible. Any specific suggestion about missing functions or areas of improvement would be important in this respect.. > Where I use GMT in particular is repeated maps, such as species > distributions, where > a script along the lines of : > > for spp in list; draw map We have a nice plugin that does about the same thing. > Similarly I have used OpenDX for interactive 3D animations with topo data as > layers > in a 3D space, & I would not expect QGIS to try & replicate that > functionality. Have you seen the 3D Globe plugin? Still to be completed though. All the best, and many thanks for your thoughts. -- Paolo Cavallini - Faunalia www.faunalia.eu Full contact details at www.faunalia.eu/pc _______________________________________________ Qgis-user mailing list [email protected] http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
