Our MSI is from 4. of October 2025 and is called:
QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.40.10-1.msi

This should ensure that we are installation the old 3.40.10 version.

Just to remind that qgis-release doesn't point to 3.40 anymore but to 4.0. So 
unless the OP specifically selected the 3.40 executable in the download 
archives folder, they were probably installing 4.0 at the start...
