Yes, I have also had some problems with the GRASS toolbox in QGIS.
I just finished writing a tutorial looking at some archaeological
data (downloads page at www.ucl.ac.uk/asp for those that are
interested) and noted problems with the QGIS Grass Toolbox provisions
for the following modules (using 0.9.1 on MacOSX):
db.in.ogr
v.db.join
db.select
The problems related to an overly restricted range of choices in the
module dialogue (far fewer input parameters than available for the
actual GRASS module itself) and/or an incomplete set of drop-down
choices and no way to manually enter input tables or fields. I could
not get the functions to run properly from the GRASS shell in QGIS
either but could do so from the the actual GRASS command line (which
is thus how they are currently specified in the tutorial).

Hi
I can confirm this for GRASS Toolbox and MINGW shell so I created a
bug
report.
I used dbf and sqlite and there is no error message during import,
but the
("Cannot select attributes from table...") occurs, when I try to
load the file
in QGIS and the dbf folder in the GRASS database is empty.

Hey all,
I'm having trouble importing shp -> grass with qgis 0.9.1 on windows
(http://download.qgis.org/qgis/win32/qgis_setup0.9.1.18_12_2007.exe)
The spatial data comes in fine but the attribute table does not
("Cannot select attributes from table..." and attribute table only
shows cat). I get this behavior with the GUI tool as well as the
shell:
v.in.ogr -o dsn=C:\\GIS\\SB0363\\train1_utm.shp output=train1
layer=train1_utm min_area=0.0001 type=boundary snap=-1
The equivalent command and the exact same shapefile work fine on
Linux.
Any ideas on where I'm going wrong here?
