Well, I certainly wouldn't mind, but can probably not be done. Anyway,
old applications are not the main problem, one has to maintain some
compatibility anyway. The problem is that really new concepts usually
get rejected because of lack of QDOS compatibility.

Why? Personally the file name limit actually doesn't bother me too
much. More other things like the missing "current directory"
functionality.
