In that case I should get me a couple :-) (Only one converter needed...  
 From UK Socket to US Socket) - I do have UK Plugs in abundance (most of  
them say "Commodore" on them too... God knows where I unearthed them

Actually there's mandatory earth in every socket installed/sold in the US.
That is the third hole underneath the two "blade" style slots.
For reference: Wide "Slot" = Neutral, Narrow "Slot" = Live, Round Hole:  
Earth. Also on US two conductor power cables.
Smooth jacket = Live / Ribbed jacket = Neutral
