This message is for anyone involved in the development of the Pointer Extensions, Qpac2 and EasyPointer. (Probably Marcel again) Now that the PE for Qdos is up to version 2 standard I wanted to see if I can make Suqcess run under Qdos again. Version 1.19 did work there but version 2 was strictly SMSQ/E so far.
I downloaded Ptr_gen v2.02, Hot_rext v2.29 & Wman v2.05. The first problem was with Ptr_gen, my Aurora locked up when Qpac2 (v1.42) was setting up the buttons. When I used Ptr_gen v2.01 Qpac2 finished properly. But the system is unstable. Sometimes job windows are not removed from the screen when buttonized, showing a rubbish button, which sometimes leads to a system crash. Even a simple boot with only the PE, Qpac2, Menu_rext, Qlib_run & the SHermes driver was unreliable. The test on my QL +SGC gave the same results. My test of Suqcess was stopped by an error probably caused by the EasyP command MWINDOW. This is used a lot in Suqcess but it fails everytime a window is opened over a application menu item. An identical line, (MWINDOW #ch,item: WM_PAPER #ch,col: WM_INK #ch,col: CLS #ch) when used on an Info Window or Loose Item is processed OK. The test was done with a Qliberated Suq2 and Qlib reported a 'Bad parameter' on WM_PAPER but after the paper colour was painted on the screen! When doing continue, the next stop is on WM_INK (same fault), continue again stops on CLS with 'Channel not open' the next continue crashes the system. Suqcess 1.19, which is compiled with EasyP 3.50 using the same SBasic line, is working as expected. Anyone out there who has tried EasyP4's MWINDOW on menu items under Qdos and the new PE? I hope to have Suqcess 2.04 ready for Eindhoven on Saturday.
