Was the original question about saving to QLay's QDOS hard drive?

QLay should be able to do this without extra tools - I thought the 
tools were only needed if saving to DOS?Windows hard drives, or to 
access QL floppy disks?

It may be worth trying out QLay 2 which is a very similar product from 
the same author (Jimmy Montesinos, who developed the original QLay 
into QLay2 and QL2K) . And if you go to the QLay2 website you'll find 
a very helpful document about it by Simon N. Goodwin.
