Neil, It would be useful to you if someone with a similar hardware setup sent you a copy a simple boot file that works enough to load you up on the computer. Once you have access, you can then load the "boot" file on your QUBIDE hard drive to see what it actually contains. Usually the "hanging" occurs when something cannot be found that the boot file is asking for ... like a "win1_dir_file" of some type. It is then the wrong device being called on, e.g, "win2_" being called rather than "win1_". Or the file type being called is not where it is supposed to be on the device or sub-directory. The safe way to edit the "boot" file on your hard disk is to put a REM statement at the beginning of a line that you may not require, rather than just deleting it.
