All

Right, quite a productive 'Aurora' day with a few steps forward
gained and one big lesson learned, more of that later ( oh how
you'll say, been there, done that ).

SGC battery fitted, 3.5" now flp1_ and not flp3_
Mouse working !, or at least partially. I haven't managed to get my
pc mouse to work 9 it is a two button with centre wheel, but my three
button serial mouse is working APART from the buttons !! having to
use space or Enter key as occasion dictates.

IPCMOUSE 4 is the one for me. If you are wondering why the mouse
wasn't working earlier, it was me, i had the mouse plugged into the
Aurora
motherboard Serial port connector. silly me.

Re CD rom , the only way i can see a disk is by using QCDEZE which is
ok
but that can't be right, can it? Within my boot i have

LRESPR win1_ATAPIqub_bin
LRESPR win1_CDROM_bin
CDR_DRIVE 1,1,0

Tony mentioned the WIN_DRIVE command, can anyone expand on this
and perhaps tell me the syntax.

I'm getting to grips with the icons and am able to navigate etc, very
impressive.
:-)

Ok, I've learnt a lession. After playing with the Win1_boot file, I
inserted a
piece of code recommended to me, this amendment seemed ok but whoops,
on reboot the Aurora boot sequence failed..... before the Keyboard
driver
was installed..... and before id created a 3.5" floppy boot drive.
Luckly for me
I realised i had Qemulator loaded on my laptop so was able to create a
boot
that copied win1_boot to flp1_bootHD. I was able to use Qemulator to
fix the problem and after renaming bootHD to boot was able to recover
etc.

i now have two flp1_boot disks, one simple one and a win1_ copy.

Summary. I now have a semi ok Aurora, minus full CD access and half a

working mouse. I also have to address my RomDisq that is still
disconnected
because it was causing the machine tofreeze. I have a few ideas on
tracking
down whats causing the freeze but for now, the CD and Mouse is my
priority.

Quite an essay, haven't checked the grammar, again. All ideas
gratefully
received.

Cheers
Neil
p.s. Once the system is running as intended I will move onto the
applications
I wish to use :-)

Check on a PC that the serial mouse is working. sH can cope with two
and
three button mice, but the PC will need a two button one (MS if there
is
a switch under the mouse).

RomDisq?
The easiest way is to open a known file on RomDisq. If there is an
error
then RomDisq is either not there, or faulty. I do not know how error
support is implemented under SMSQ - but using that you could ensure
the
test does not crash the program.
There might be a system PEEK, but I don't know.

I would recommend booting entirely off RomDisq. I even have a RESPR
version of the qubide driver that loads using a ramn file on ROmDisq.
This means that you have a usable system even if the hard disk has
troubles. I also put all my programs on RomDisq. I very rarely write
to it. Make sure though that you have a back-up boot floppy that
loads
the sH drivers. That way you are covered even if RomDisq (and HD)
fail.

Sorry for my confusing feedback. I have not had to configure anything
on my sH for so many years now.

Tony
