I know what it probably is.  SMSQ defaults to its own mouse driver.  I
forget exactly what, but you have to change its config block to stop it
grabbing the clicks.  You see cursor movement probably because it
doesn't manage to capture all mouse movement signals.

Don't go by that.  I did not know then about the specific CD rom commands.

Romdisq would have installed the driver prior to F1/F2.
Start up with a floppy boot disk and then you can correct RomDisq.
