  By 'latter have' I assume you really meant 'this has' (8-)#
Ahah I missed that - you didn't actually say AT in your first msg but 
P5/6 was a clue.

Two types of supply:

1) Old AT   That has a mechanical on/off switch so should nothing 
special.  Why aren't you simply using the built in switch?  All the ones 
I have ever used do not need a motherboard connected.   I have plenty of 
such supplies, which I could send for postage only if you fail to get 
yours going.

2) New ATX and similar with 'soft' switch.  This you connect the green 
cable (p14) to any ground, but p15 next door (black) is the best candidate.
