Please check your facts before engaging the writing mode.
On the 8th Oct I wrote to Jochen and sorted out what had to be paid. I
hold the QL Today money in a separate account from which I transferred
the amount Jochen requested. This cleared into my Q Branch account on
Thursday 16th and I accordingly transferred it to Jochen on that day.
Jochen was informed about this as it went along. One slight hitch
occurred (not in the QL Today money but in other money I had to transfer
to him) and I rectified this at the same time.
You make a habit of finding targets to shout at. The Quanta argument
lost QL Today several readers and was, at time downright petty. I held a
silent brief on that because I was part of the QL Today 'machine' but,
since I have resolved to be just the agent for the last three issues and
to contribute one last column I can express the way I felt about it. You
are welcome to edit my final column but I will publish it here anyway.
We are a small pond. Rapidly shrinking. As such we can afford few big
fish with voracious appetites. If you want to be 'king fish' it is
better not to snap at too many minnows. You wind up with very few
subjects to worship you.
Every time we argue publicly like this a few more people decamp. This is
a non argument and one which could have been easily settled, and indeed
was before you decided on your 'Mr Apollo' act.
The problem with the QL is that the people who can write new stuff
stopped doing it. If there is no new stuff people lose interest. If you
want to do something useful start writing software and not polemics.

Yes I messed up here, in that I got too involved with too many things
and forgot to follow up Jochen's email about sending the adverts to
him and letting him know how many magazine were required for the next
issue Some of this was due to pursuing a couple of customers who had
not renewed or replied to renewal requests and I did not want to
short order. As It was there were just too many things happening at
once outside of the QL and I am not often home so I neglected to do it.
Yes, I admit it was a mess. When all this blew up last week I acted
immediately to get the order over to Jochen and find out how much he
need for the issue to be printed and I transferred the money last
week. He knows when he will get it because we do this all the time.
The money has been out of my account for three working days and
should be in his by tomorrow.
As angry as you may have been you didn't try to call me or email me
about it.
QBranch does no business other than to deal with this magazine. I had
intended to close it last year but I decided to carry it on. It is so
far at the back of what I spend most of my time on these days that I
still have not sent RWAP and invoice for some stuff I sold him three
months ago.
I apologise to the readers and the next issue will go much more smoothly
My intention is to close QBranch forthwith but I will see out this
volume of the magazine and sell off the remaining bits of QL stuff I
have here.
Really this was all very unnecessary, Geoff, but there you go.
