You make a habit of finding targets to shout at. The Quanta argument lost
QL Today several readers and was, at time downright petty. I held a silent
brief on that because I was part of the QL Today 'machine' but, since I
have resolved to be just the agent for the last three issues and to
contribute one last column I can express the way I felt about it. You are
welcome to edit my final column but I will publish it here anyway.
Go ahead and write what you wish. I have always said I would be happy to
publish critical comments and this is a good way of putting it to the test.
It is a far better way than poisonous emails sent via an insalubrious
website. I wish more people would do it.
I have just offered Quanta 2000 words unedited and so far I am sorry they
have not taken up the offer. (They have not offered me a right of reply to
inaccurate comments made about me in the Quanta Magazine by both John Mason
and Sarah Gilpin.)
For me "unedited" also means in principle "uncommented" although I would
reserve the right to comment for legal reasons if it involved 3rd parties.
Just one final thing. In spite of the present differences Jochen and I are
agreed on one thing - you have a distinguished record in QL Today. In fact
it is probably true to say that without your contribution QL Today would
have disappeared some time ago,
Best wishes,
Geoff
