I haven't used a Qubide, yet it must be able to write to a PC fromatted
hard drive, as it is usually saving to a QXL.WIN file, when operating in
QL mode.
I assume, also, that it can "see" the DOS file headers too.
Then, again, it depends what software capability is within the Qubide ROM.
Is any one else using a Qubide ? To help with these queries.
Unfortunately, Qubide is different to the QXL.WIN style of filing system
used by systems like QPC2.
Qubide formats a hard disk to its own format, the driver being based on the
old Rebel QL hard disk format, adapted for Qubide by Phil Borman.
IIRC, Qubide 2 provides direct sector access for attached ATAPI IDE drives.
So programs like Discover can access CD ROMs etc. Don't know if this works
just with Zip, or EZ disks and other IDE removable media devices though.
Here's an extract from Qubide's Changes.txt for version 2.00:
"v2.00

Driver now supports ATAPI drives. Only the Iomega Zip drive has been tested,
but other compatible drives may work too.
Direct sector access is available to ATAPI CD-ROM devices. This uses the
special "alien" (non-qubide) access mode. Although CD-ROMs use 2k sectors
with a 512 byte "header block", qubide still sees the usual 512b sectors so
access is possible with GET from S*basic. The rest of the 2.5k is buffered
by the driver."
