Hello Adrian,
I am sorry to say that what YOU write about Royal mail is true for
Deutsche Post too.
They save on everything you can imagine: they took thousands of
postboxes away, so that millions of customers have to go/drive
longer routes to put their letters into boxes (and then they tell
us something about "green" post).
Last summer, they did not deliver post on Mondays (as an attempt to
save, and see how the people reacted).
Large letters and parcels without even a single delivery attempt
happened here too several times. There was too much to carry,
was the "apology" after my complaint. Well, if they reduce the
number of postman every other month, there IS probably too much
at some stage.
I call this FRAUD, as I pay for the delivery.
And - I have to drive through half the city to pick up the goods
as they removed this facility from the local post office.
When I catched a postman putting the card in (which said I was not at
home) and NOT having the item with him, I reported this to the local TV
and press and got the item delivered manually... and that has not
happened to me anymore.
And you think the UK postal services are bad... I guess that is
fact more or less everywhere where the customer does not count
anymore...
Cheers Jochen

Jochen,
Still no sign of QL Today here in Manchester, but I have to say that,
for me, the Royal Mail no longer serves any useful purpose. After all,
if you have a postal service that doesn't deliver the post, that
leaves red cards without even trying to deliver the parcels that they
never took out on the van in the first place, then they should simply
cease to exist.
I'm afraid that the Royal Mail is now the very epitome of what the
United Kingdom has become over these last fifteen years: a
bureaucratic nanny state where the only thing that matters is making
up new rules and finding new ways of not providing a service to the
customer.
Anyway, new year rant over!
Regards and a belated Happy New Year to all.
Adrian
