This takes A4 landscape which is useful for spreadsheets, printing a long strip although I have difficulty getting Windows to understand this.

That's not appropriate, Malcolm, as the ribbon cartridge is a small one which travels with the head. It has a plastic ink reservoir sponge and feed strip, which both deteriorate to a podge.
