Jiri,

So that I can work out what the problem might be, please could you tell me
what messages are appearing when you start the connection using the ROM
driver with the bootstrap SD card inserted in the Ser-USB? I need to know
this so that I can see whether the unit is functioning correctly at the most
basic level.

If you get as far as the message confirming the Ser-USB Bootstrap Loader and
the loading of the ROM extensions, then a DIR USB1_ command should bring up
the directory of the boostrap partition.

fyi You cannot mount a partition unless the drive or SD Card has been
formatted first and you cannot mount a partition on a drive number that is
already in use; so, if the boostrap worked, then a partition is already
mounted as drive 1 so a MOUNT 1,1,1 will fail. ... But we can work through
these issues once I am sure that the basic functions are working.

Regards,

Adrian

Subject: Re: [Ql-Users] Ser-USB

I have tried SER-USB device with my QL (Minerva 1.98, SuperHermes,
SuperGoldCard) and a problem appeared.
Using either ROM or disk driver, speed of 9600 or 19200, included SD card or
another SD card, it activates the driver and communicates with SER-USB, but
nothing more.

Neither MOUNT 1,1,1 nor MOUNT 2,1,2 (as described on leaflet) works ("not
found", "bad or changed medium" and sometimes "corrupted FAT"
appears).
I tried to initialise a new card using both FORMAT (physical device) and
pm_exe.
I have used 256 MB SD card (! I don't want to destroy the bootstrap
partition on the included 1 GB SD card, so I did not experiment with it !).
Format says, that it has -1 MB. And after formatting to 128 MB, 8 LBA per
group, it says it was formatted to -32767 sectors.
PM ("partition" command) says, that sector 0 is unreadable.
"Initialise" command starts to checking disk and nothing more.

I have tried both my SER-USB devices, and both behave the same way.
I have tried both QDOS and SMSQ, no difference (excepting behavior of the
pm_exe, as described in manual).
I have tried the power cycle of SER-USB, taking card out and back in, but it
is still the same.

What I am doing wrong?
