OK, if you insist, and as we are short of 'copy' I shall recount an
encounter I had in a cafe in Corwen last Thursday - during my weekly bike
ride.
Nowt 2 do with QL's tho'. And with apologies to all our esteemed friends to
whom 'Ty Mawr' means nothing and to those to whom 'pounds' means nothing
either and for those in _both_ categories: SWITCH OFF NOW.
There, in the cafe, I met an acquaintance who was anxious to recount what
she had overheard in "Williams the greengrocer's, just down the street", the
day before.
========================
'Mrs Evans, Ty Mawr' said to the grocer -
"Five pounds of potatoes please".
"I'm sorry, we can't do them any more - it has to be kilos." said the
grocer.
"OK" said the old woman innocently, "five pounds of kilos please."
Then my elderly informant looked me sternly in the eye and stated "They're
the same aren't they, 'pounds' and 'kilos'."
