They were relatively.
I remember using (not owning) a Toshiba 5200.
This really was state of the art in 1988 - 386/20 with 100mb HD and 2mb
ram - and 640x 480 gas plasma screen, and costing �5,500.  An incredibly
expensive lump.  ... and lump it was, weighing in with manuals at about
15kg.   The manual says 'minimum size and weight' !)
However it has two ISA slots, so is a good QXL machine.
Also _very_ fragile - Lau Reeves managed to break my 3200, used for
superHermes development)
I got one on Sunday from Roy B for repairing his QL tower (thanks Roy,
and I hope your tower is now stable.  I don't think I have come across
one so badly put together)  He didn't build the original I hasten to
add. The backplane had no ground plane - it didn't even had a ground
connection!
