Hi Claude,

I'm afraid you are wrong !

I have now got a very large set of full spec free fully licenced programs
from PC Plus, PC Pro and PCW. I have a couple of DVDs holding around 60,000
clip art images which I can use without any royalties, licencing etc. (Not
that I need to just yet, I wonder if Dilwyn fancies converting that little
lot to QL format then :o) )

Granted, there *are* some programs which are trial versions etc, but the
majority are full and free. The reason is that the free versions are not the
latest ones.

Things like Borland C++ BUilder version 4 (Pro) are limited to your own use
and any programs written with it cannot be distributed or sold or given away
but you do get the chance to buy a full licence upgrade (and a box with
original disc(s) and manuals etc).

I took advantage of this and upgraded a free version of BCB 4 Pro (and
actually BCB 3 as well before that) to a full version for work. This saved
them an immense amount of money - and I got to use a proper C++ compiler
system rather than a broken one called Visual C! It was actually cheaper to
purchase a new version of BCB 4 at 99 than to upgrade from BCB3 to BCB4 so
we got a good deal.

regards,

Norman.

PS. I don't buy any PC software these days :o)
