Well yes of course.

Hermes takes ser1/2 speed up to about 12000 bps and superHermes up to
19200.  .... and of course ser3 sH port gives up to 57600.  (all
throughputs).

...... but I suspect the original author has a basic (maybe unexpanded)
QL.
For QL <-> PC transfers, speed is usually not an issue.
