Yes, it was mainly the extra cost for a bigger PCB. And a little bit the
idea of having a very compact QL system in a custom case. (Which has not
materialized yet.)

The Q40/Q60 mainboard electronics are designed to drive up to 5 extension
slots though. A passive slot riser allows to use this feature.

A few folks have their Q40/Q60 in an old Slimline case (they came with ISA
slot risers) for this reason.
