I have only seen a handful of unmodified UK QLs with power/heat problems
in the 100 or so I have repaired.
I have come to the conclusion that these problems do not really exist.

Really? How much power do the ROMs take?
Must be pretty small, certainly relative to the 1.8A.
The biggest power consumer, from heat generated, seems to be the
68008.... worth removing this if GC/SGC fitted.
I once had a QL for repair from Freddy Vaccha, and the _only_ fault was
a missing 68008 (8-)#
