In fact, the Di-Ren manual shows a standard 8049 plugged into the
Diren keyboard interface. The original 8049 is removed from the QL
circuit board and plugged into the socket on the interface. The
interface is then plugged into the 8049 socket.

There was a little programmable PIC chip on the interface somewhere,
though I can't remember where it was. Robin was very into PIC chips at
the time, between the keyboard interface and the various System
Amadeus components he embarked on at the time. Anyone still using
those?
