Thanks for the info Derek.

I am indeed installing Shoestring.
I have searched for older versions to try but they seem to have disappeared from
everywhere... I am not sure if Richard is reading this list any more (or ql-
developers) but he would be the one to consult.

As I said in my original mailing, using the ramimg and then running apps directly from
the cdrom works just fine. Maybe again it's my Q40 as it's an initial production run
and some things as I have noticed don't go as expected (ie ProWesS that despite
all info from other Q40i and Q60 users I yet have to install and run). Other things
work like a dream. (Turbo, GWASS, c68 and Q-Word do and that's what I am really
interested in anyway! Weird thing here is that PQIV DOESN'T run unless used on
QDOS Classic )

The problem with the Shoestring ISO image is that it exceeds 700Mbytes (it's
actually a little over it and I had to set my CDR to overburn it. However the
checksums look fine and furthermore it didn't appear to have any trouble with it....

After little thought however, my money is on the partitioning scheme... I think that
the QWA partition set startable confuses it...

Oh well I will have to totally erase and start over... that's the part of QL systems I
hate... disk (floppy) access is so slow and the copy of subdirectories so unecessary
complicated I dread touching it...

Speaking of disks any way to use QubIDE partitions (which are infinitely more
reliable than QWA ones) and SMSQ/E ones on the same disk? I've tried to contact
Phil Borman, but he doesn't reply from the address he lists on his webpage...

Regards,

Phoebus
