Epson esc/p2 should use standard epson codes - chr$(15) for condensed
on (17 characters per inch, 8x17=136 characters per line across A4 or
8x11 USA paper paper), chr$(18) for condensed off. Some printers will
let you have condensed elite pitch as well (20 cpi or 160 characters
across such paper).

Alternatively, to print even more text per line, print in landscape.
Epson inkjet printers don't have native landscape modes, os use a
program like Sidewriter from RWAP Software, or an older program called
WriteTurn from Sector Software to print spreadsheets sideways down
sheets of paper.

The reason the ESC P2 documents are so large is that they are in .PDF
file format for use with Acrobat reader. It is possible to extract
plain text from such .PDF files but it comes out as an unformatted
mess in the case of these particular files.

If you can read CD-ROMs, ghet the emulators CD anyway, it has hundreds
of QL programs free of charge on it. Or get the QL documentation CD
which has all sorts of QL and printer related documents on it. Rich
can supply the Emulators CD, I think he has copies of the
Documentation CD too (did I ever send you the documents one Rich?)

I've started on a plain text list of Epson printer control codes to
match the HPCL (Deskjet) one I once did. I'll post it on my website if
ever I finish it! Older Epson sets aren't bad if you ignore graphics
commands, the ESC/P2 command sets tend to take longer to document and
understand!!!
