As far as I know Oliver is still waiting for a volunteer to care of the Garmin drivers from Windows. If the Garmin device of your friend can send NMEA (very old and very new devices can, but e.g. my etrex Vista HcX cannot), then he can do at least live tracking based on NMEA on Windows.
