It's peculiar that the Live Log works and all other function won't. They 
use the same mechanism. Can you tell a bit more about what you have done 
to configure the USB bus? Did you follow the instructions of the 
GPSBabel FAQ http://www.gpsbabel.org/os/Linux_Hotplug.html? The same 
applies to QLGT. And does GPSBabel work for you?

I can't be of much more help, because I do not own that device to test. 
The driver part has been donated years ago and is not maintained 
anymore. Thus it might not work even if you setup the USB device correctly.

If the map has several *img files there should be a *tdb file, too. That 
is the one to open. QLGT will ask you for a basemap. That is the tricky 
part as the name can be anything. Sometimes it's the same as the *tdb 
file. Sometimes it's the first number of all numbered *img files.
