Hi Rudi,

you probems with you access rights, thus you have to focus on the udev files.  I am not sure if it is important to use 50 or 30. Usually the number defines the order of the rules get applied. And I am not sure if the reload command really works on every case. Thus to be save do a reboot. There are also two different syntaxes of the line. I would say you choose the right one. But you might give the other one a chance, too. See:

Betreff: [Qlandkartegt-users] Suse 12.3 etrex vista hcx qlandkartegt no connect to the device

Hi @ all,

sorry for my bad englisch, i hope so, you can read (and understand) it.

My Problem: Qlandkartegt cannot write to my device.

Message is:

Failed to upload waypoints. Failed to open USB device: Keine Berechtigung

Following is done here:

Remove garmin_gps with "sudo rmmod garmin_gps"

Also added into /etc/modeprobe.d/50-blacklist.conf a line with

blacklist garmin_gps

Also a file named 32-garmin.rules in /etc/udev/rules.d is added

One line in it,

ATTRS{idVendor}=="091e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0003", MODE="0666", GROUP="plugdev"

I use the file 32-garmin.rules because in my messages.log the lines:

kernel: [ 3984.776013] usb 3-2: new full-speed USB device number 13 using uhci_hcd

and

kernel: [ 3984.919288] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=091e, idProduct=0003

appear when I plugin my etrex vista hcx on usb

So, what can i do to transfer waypoints to my etrex?

Can anyone help my?

Greetings, Rudi
