Hi Dan, I have a deja-vue :D Bas asked the same a few days ago. See the archive for details.

So I'll patch QMS to use the right name. Ok. Hopefully no Linux user has to use it anyway, because they can use the ready made binaries for Europe as Linux POSIX API has no problem with files larger than 4GB. It's more a treat for the Windows users, that have to create their own subset of Europe due to limitations. The Routino data format has no compression at all. That makes it very fast, but the database files are huge. I talked with Andrew about it. But in the end it is his decision. I can understand if he does not want to make big changes just because I start to use his code in a consumer grade software. But let's see what the future brings. Right now having offine routing is a very useful thing :) I hoped for 8 years that someone is jumping on the Garmin format and is writing a router for the routing data already available. But having a router completely independent from maps is also a quite nice option. It's just that I always have the feeling that most users are hardly able install a file. Now they have to install map files, DEM files and routing database files. For some this is close to a task impossible. That's why using the routing information from Garmin files would be nice. > >> yes, it is planned to merge the library code back into the trunk of >> Routino.
