I tried without that change on UBUNTU 15.04 and get an error: qmapshack: error while loading shared libraries: libroutino.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Ubuntu requires some files in /usr not in /usr/local. Without the change you have to copy some files to /usr as described in another thread by Oliver.
