With "graphics system" I meant the X-Server or similar. The cursor
itself is rendered correctly and also the 100% transparent area around
it. It's just the shadow that has other values for transparency than 0%
or 100%. So it might be a limitation on the used color space e.g. to 16
bit colors. Or the real graphics driver is not loaded and some
simplified default is used. You could also check out if Arch Linux is
offering a high color cursor theme for KDE. If it does it might switch
automatically to a better graphics mode.
