Maybe a solution like sendmail use?

I think is not so bad.

example, an ldap entry with a mailAlternateAddress like [EMAIL PROTECTED]

and a mailforwarding address like [EMAIL PROTECTED] or another prefix to forward emails.

I think these is a good solution.

yes. a better solution is needed, something that works on the fly and doesn't extra deliveries. it's actually not that hard... just needs a little time to implement
