That's not standard Q-S - that must be from the "st" patch - what does that refer to?

 Wed, 14 Jan 2004 14:36:48 -0500:5085: SA: finished scan in 0.560265 secs -
 hits=2.4

SpamAssassin took 0.5 secs - not too bad.

Again - not standard Q-S...

Sorry, can't help - maybe the author of the "st" patch can shed some light?

Well the answer could be long..

First, the routing working_copy (w_c) has not been modified in my patch.

Last settember, when I was testing qs-1.2rc3 in one of my servers (I run 3 servers with qs), I realized that this version was slower than 1.16, even if I was running 1.2rc3 on a PentiumIII-1000 and 1.16 on a PentiumII-350, and I had posted to list some messages.

Then I track the problem sending the same message to both servers, and I found that 'it wasn't a problem'. Jason has added more features to the routine 'working_copy' and with some messages it took nearly 10-15 seconds, but this is not a problem it is just a fact.

In the patch I've left some of the checks I used to track the times:

... w_c: elapsed time from start 9.68652 secs

This is the elapsed time since qmail-scanner was invoked by qmail-smtpd till the end of the routine working_copy.

... ini_sc: elapsed time from start 10.266434 secs

Thi is the elapsed time since qmail-scanner was invoked till the end of init_scanners

... ------ all finished . Total of 10.295683 secs

This is the elapsed time since qmail-scanner was invoked till the end of qmail-scanner itself.

The others (clamscan, SA, p_s) are just the times elapsed for the single scanner routine.

I suggest James to search in the code (/var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner.pl) for the texts that are in the log...

Regards

Salvatore
