A look at the man page doesn't show a variable for the mailbox location.
It appears that it's compiled in.  It does, however, accept a command line
switch to the mailbox.  

$elm -f ~/Mailbox

will do it.  Things could have changed, this man page is for an older
version of elm on hpux9 (ver 70.85).
