When you have mailing lists that number in millions, you will usually have
thousands of messages going to the same messages.

Using VERPs will require a thousand times as much bandwidth.  Each
individual message will have to be transmitted separately, plus each bounce
will be returned separately.

With DSNs, one copy of message to a single domain, with all the receipients
listed for the message, and then exactly one bounce back, listing all
undeliverable addresses.
