To belabor what is perhaps obvious by now, RFC822 forbids 8-bit
characters in the local-part of an address (or anywhere else, for that
matter).  The key lines are as follows:

     atom        =  1*<any CHAR except specials, SPACE and CTLs>
     CHAR        =  <any ASCII character>        ; (  0-177,  0.-127.)

I haven't actually seen this particular violation in use; has anybody
else?
