Accurate recording of the envelope in the Return-Path and most recent Delivered-To header line are vital for catchall users of MDaemon, getmail, fetchmail, vodmr, etc. Please don't remove that.
We were looking for a solution for the non-intuitive case of setting the catchall to postmaster, and then configuring postmaster to forward to another address.
With the current system, mail addressed to postmaster directly is forwarded, and all other mail gets dumped in postmaster's Maildir.
I guess we can work around the problem by using Jeff's vdelivermail patch which checks for the presence of a .qmail file in the user's directory before blindly dumping the message in the Maildir. That way, we can keep the old behavior of using Maildir entries for catchall accounts.
