Because the forwarding for [EMAIL PROTECTED] intercepts the mail before it's deposited to ~vpopmail/domains/test.com/test/
Now, in qmailadmin, you create an alias, [EMAIL PROTECTED], which tells vdelivermail that mail sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] to ~vpopmail/domains/test.com/test/, not to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The proper way to do this, is to set up [EMAIL PROTECTED] as a forward itself, either to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] Aliases are local, forwards are not local, it's not a hugely difficult concept to understand how and why the folks at Inter7 did this. Now, if I had my way, aliases and forwards would be treated the same and would be handled recursively by vdelivermail. Furthermore, aliases and forwards would always point to an email address, never to a Maildir/ folder. The second thing I'd do if I had my way, would be to incorporate the ability to create pipes with qmailadmin. I had to get down and dirty with ssh and vi to get my mail piped to procmail so that list mail (like from this list) can get properly sorted into their appropriate folders before I ever see them. For example: | /path/to/procmail -m /path/to/my/procmailrc For that matter, it would be nice to be able to define my procmail receipies from a web interface =D. -- Troy Settle Pulaski Networks http://www.psknet.com 540.994.4254 ~ 866.477.5638 Pulaski Chamber 2002 Small Business Of The Year > -----Original Message----- > From: Lay[N]e [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Monday, March 17, 2003 3:42 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [qmailadmin] forward of aliases > > > Hi, > > i have setup an alias on a local mailbox named, let's say > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > This mailbox is set up with a forwarding to an external account. > The same mailbox has an alias named [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Here is the problem: > > if i write a mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED] my mail is forwarded to > the external > account. > If i write to [EMAIL PROTECTED] there is no forwarding to the > external account. > > It Should work, isn't it?
