First of all, sqwebmail is neither an IMAP nor POP3 client. It reads/writes directly
to the disk.

But as for IMAP: The IMAP protocol has certain advantages over the POP3 protocol.

For example, I can create an Outlook Express IMAP account on 10 different
computers throughout the office, and on EACH computer I have full access
to every mail message and every sent message stored on the server.

In short, it's great for mobile users, travellers, or people with multiple computers.

However, there _IS_ the disk space issue to deal with. We (WingNET) choose to
handle this by selling IMAP accounts based on disk quota size, not # of accounts,
as is common with POP3 pricing.

We/I consider it an opportunity to provide better service to customers with special
needs. Just don't give it away for free. Make them pay for it. It's only fair.

Sure. Outlook Express.

However, webmail clients, by design, MUST store mail on the server. The HTTP
protocol doesn't have any facilities for mail download in it's specification.
