now with regards to smtp-auth. i had a friend from 2 different locations, setup outlook as per the link above, with the exception of changing the smtp and pop3 settings in the advanced menu. in the end, he could not log in, and there is absolutely no record of it in my logs, either smtp or send logs. and, just to let you know, there is nothing wrong with my logs, i check it often, and everything is working perfectly there. some help would be greatly appreciated.

What error was given when he could not log in?
Standard ports?
Firewall?

i attached the image of the error message.
yes, he left the standard ports to default, in the advanced menu
the firewall isn't the problem either.
i'm sorry to be asking about this problem, but, i searched every single archive, but, to no avail

I don't remember enough about Outlook to describe it in detail, but as long as you have the server name(s) right and there's otherwise connectivity and Outlook's configured to do authorization, there shouldn't be a problem.

Remember, the user must include the domain in the account name ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), not just the user name.

If that doesn't do it, I seem to remember a post a little while back (where've you been, Roxie?) where the they uninstalled Outlook then reinstalled it and it worked. Go figure.

That's about all I can think of about this.
