I believe I've figured out the problem. It's somewhat of my own making. Not understanding quite how such things are done, I altered the code of the intstallation script to identify as fdr80 rather than as fdr60, since I'm on FC8 nstead of FC6. But the spec files don't list fdr70 or fdr80 as options. So the system seems to be scrolling through to the default ... which for at least the szlm package happens to be cnt50_64. Which would make sense with the error message that was seeking /usr/lib64/mysql instead of /usr/lib/mysql.
I'm going to DL a new copy of the FC6 install script from the website tomorrow; remove the existing packages and get things back to where they were before I started. And not change the system descriptor. Let it build as though it is on FC6 rather than FC8. From what I've seen and others have said, I believe this will work.
